The Buckster writes: Personal Technology has grown leaps and bounds in just the last 10 years. The ability for all individuals to stay in contact with friends and family is exceptional to say the least. This ability to stay in contact has spilled over into the work place, this starts at the top with the CEO all the way to the Janitorial staff. Now comes the Security issue of your corporate network for large businesses and almost no security for most small businesses. We are going to concentrate on small business here. It has been my experience that most small businesses from the start has very little security with exception of Norton, McAfee, AVG Anti-Virus and the Windows Firewall software. They use External drives as a back up option and even then not consistently. Employees move data freely by any means of transportation such as DVD and hard copy. Which means no security. There is no way for the business owner to monitor who has what inforamtion. Then comes the idea that we are not big enough to have a server. The price for installing a server environment for a small business just is not worth the cost at this point. Most small businesses go down to the local Best Buy, Sams wholesale or Costco to purchase their PCs which comes with Windows 7 Home Edition which is not built for the Server environment. So now the small business owner not only pays minimum of 2500.00 for a Server now he has to spend the money on Windows 7 software to upgrade each of their PCs. What is a small business to do to protect its interests and insure the employee with their personal technology is protected? My answer is the use of Cloud Technology. Cloud Technology will allow the business owner to have better monitoring capability and allow the employee to keep their personal technology which keeps everyone happy & secured. Cloud tecchology also has the ability to allow clients access to their files for view access or if you choose full access. More to come on Cloud Technology.
