The Identity Theft Council Warns of Increased Risk of Identity Theft to Small Businesses – MarketWatch

The Buckster writes: For all small businesses across the globe the risk of Identity Theft is very real.  We must all be on the defensive and be very proactive to protect ourselves from Identity Theft.  I must say on a daily basis I receive emails from individuals pretending to be a small business looking for services. When this first happened I engaged an individual. This individual wanted a quote for some equipment which I obliged and sent a quote.  One day later the individual says this is a great price and they wanted to purchase.  They sent me a credit card number with a different address of the business which was ok but then the address we were going to send the product was also different.  This sent up red flags all over the place for me.  I immediately cancelled the engagement and I know this was a person trying to commit Identity theft.  This is one side of identity theft that I have experienced in my time in business.  On the flip side, we must protect ourselves as much as possible on getting our credit cards and bank accounts compromised. This articles gives seven tips to protecting yourself from Identity Theft and I knew this is something that needed to get disseminated immediately.  Protect Your Self & Your Business!!!
